Coronavirus
Like everyone, we hope you all remain safe and well during this unprecedented time in our lives. Our thoughts especially go to those trying to keep pubs, cafes, restaurants and other hospitality establishments open at this time; as well as those trying to complete their hospitality studies.
We would of course urge you to seek advice and help from your educational establishment or employer for support and to follow government advice. Should this fail we will try to support you in whatever way we are able to. Good luck and stay safe.
Andy's Story
Andy died tragically in a house fire in Honiton on 5th April 2013 along with his childhood sweetheart Rosie and her young brother. Andy's passion was hospitality, it was an industry he trained
for, and loved. He especially loved his Front of House role although trained as a chef. The foundation has been set up to help others to either progress in the industry or get into
hospitality either initially or as a career change.
Andy had a dream that he was following, and would want others to follow theirs too. He always saw the positive aspects in life and never saw the bad, only the good. (Andy was awarded the Order of St.
John in 2014 for donating his organs and saving or impacting 9 lives). I am hoping that we can somehow translate his passion and positivity into a charity that helps others realise their dreams. Be
it training, services, support, tools/clothing or helping them gain employment. Andy always followed his dream, and I hope we can help others to do so as well.
Please take time to check out the site and see the kind of work we intend to do.
Train
As a unique and brand new Devon based hospitality charity we intend to get involved in projects that help young and old to train for a career in hospitality or maintain a career they may already have. This may mean the foundation providing equipment, courses, books, or other capital costs
Gain
We also want to assist people in gaining employment by sourcing local roles and helping to provide the skills, and equipment they may need to take up the position. This may be assisting them with initial travel costs in order for them to start to building their career or perhaps supporting them in other ways such as CV, or application support
Sustain
We hope to work with a variety of organisations and individuals to alleviate poverty and hardship within the industry helping people to sustain their career. This could be assisting with accommodation costs or working with the employer so people are supported in the workplace, especially through the early stages of employment.
